As we find ourselves going into the final round of six nations games for 2020, the title is still very much there for the taking. Ireland are in control of the title's destiny as the front runners and current competition leaders. Come Saturday they will be crowned champions if they beat France with a bonus point in Paris. Although a win alone may be enough depending on England's result against Italy in Rome. Irelands game with France is the final game of super Saturday so Andy Farrells side will know exactly what needs to be done to lift the trophy under the lights of the stade de France.
England will need to put Italy to the sword in order for them to win their first six nations title since 2017. They require the 5 try bonus point and will need to rack up over 40 points to be in with a shot at the title. All though this likely, they would still need France to be victorious over Ireland or cross their fingers for an unlikely draw in Paris. Eddie Jones side, still fresh from a rugby world cup final, will still see themselves very much in the race to be this year's winners.
France had a fantastic start to the championship back in February winning 3 out of 4 games including impressive wins over both England and Wales. After losing to Scotland and Covid-19 stopping the championship, momentum was lost for Les Bleus. They must beat Ireland with a bonus point and out score England in Italy to stand any chance of lifting the trophy in Paris. Although this is a possibility, it comes as very unlikely given both France and England's opposition.
Scotland and Wales will kick off an action-packed Saturday with little to play for. Both sides succumbed to defeats in the early stages of the tournament meaning title glory is all but gone. However, Scotland's improvements over the last few years may give them hope of a first win in Cardiff for over 18 years. Wales will want to stop the rot and halt their losing momentum as they continue on their worst run of results since 2016. All being said, still expect fireworks when these two meet in Cardiff come Saturday.
With the idea of Six Nations promotion and relegation looming, Italy will now, more than ever, want to show their worth to the rugby world. However unlikely it may seem, a win over England on Saturday would see them secure their first points of this year's championship. Saturday evening will mark the 15th time Italy have finished bottom of the pile. A statistic which will make the rugby world wonder if they are deserving of their place in the competition. With the evolution of Georgian rugby, and Europe becoming increasing interested in the competition, it may be a sad reality for the Italians that their time in the competition is coming to an end.
